Barishal City Corporation (BCC) polls independent mayoral candidate Kamrul Ahsan Rupom has alleged that his agents are not allowed to enter the polling centers during elections.
He said: "As far as I know, my agents were not allowed to enter the two centers so far."
Rupom came up with the allegation while talking to journalists after casting his vote at Alekanda Govt Primary School centre at 9am today (June 12).
Table watch symbol candidate Rupom also said: "They are being said that the agent card will not be accepted without the candidate's signature, but there was my Chief Election Agent's signature. It is also being said again why the forms were not given to the agents at night. But I know that agent form must be given before polling. My Chief Election Agent has been sent to the spot,"
He also said the environment is not favourable for a fair election.
Rupom, however, said: "I am optimistic about victory; people can cast their votes properly, and if agents are present at the centers, vote collection will be accurate. If there is no manipulation, I will accept any result."
The voting started at 8:00am and will continue until 4:00pm without any break.
In Barishal, 276,298 voters will vote to choose the mayor and councillors.
Of the voters, 137,489 are males, and 138,809 are females. Seven mayoral candidates, 118 general councillor candidates, and 42 reserved councillor candidates will vie in the elections.
