DHAKA: Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, also former President of the country, summoned candidates and senior leaders of the party.

The senior leaders and candidates were asked to appear in front of the ‘President Park’, the residence of HM Ershad, in city’s Baridhara area on Wednesday.

Wishing anonymity several presidium members confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Following the emergency call, various rumors are prevailing among party leaders-activists and others.

Jatiya Party Assistant Office Secretary Abul Hasan Ahmed Jewel told banglanews, “Party Chairman HM Ershad directed all the candidates to withdraw their nomination papers by Wednesday.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad declared that his party would not join in the next parliamentary elections as other parties are not taking part.
