DHAKA: Oscar Fernandez Taranco, Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs of United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, would hold a meeting with the opposition Chairperson Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan residence of the city on Saturday (December 7).
Taranco is expected to reach in Bangladesh on December 6.
Sources said that they would discuss different issues, including resolving prevailing political violence in the country and ensuring participation of all the party in the next general polls.
Taranco will start his day’s proceedings by holding a meeting with foreign minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali around 10:00am Saturday.
Later, he would meet with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Ganobhaban in the noon.
Besides, he would meet with general secretaries of two main political parties, Election Commission, ambassadors and civil society members.
At the final part of his visit, Taranco will once again meet with the Prime Minister and leader of the opposition and brief the journalists about the visit on December 10.
