Shibir-cop clash injures 5 in city

DHAKA: A Shibir activist sustained bullet injury in a clash with law enforcers at capital’s Islampur on Saturday morning during the first day of 18-party called 72-hour blockade.

Sources said that Shibir activists brought out a procession at around 08:45am and blasted cocktails aiming police, leaving four police men injured.

In retaliation, police opened fire at blockaders, leaving a Shibir activist bullet-wounded.

Confirming the matter, Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Shah Alam told banglanews, “Police held two Shibir men, including bullet-wound one, from the spot.”
