DHAKA: Oscar Fernández Taranco, UN assistant secretary general for political affairs, is holding meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in second phase on Sunday noon.

Taranco entered Prime Minister’s Office, in capital’s Tejgaon area at around 12:30pm.

Earlier in the day, the special ambassador of UN secretary General Ban-ki-Moon had meeting with Chief Election Commissioner and other commissioners at around 10:55am.

The upcoming parliamentary election and stand of political parties were discussed in the meting, said sources.

Earlier, the UN envoy had an hour-long meeting with Jatiya Party Chairmam HM Ershad at his Baridhara residence started at 9:30am Sunday.

During Saturday’s meeting with the premier, Taranco asked Sheikh Hasina to defer the election schedule for ensuring participation of all the party.

In response to Taranco Sheikh Hasina told that deferring the election schedule is the jurisdiction of the Election Commission (EC).
