BNP’s sit-in: Police picks up Gayeshwar from Dholaikhal

BNP leaders and activists have claimed that police picked up BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy from the city's Dholaikhal area today (July 29).

The BNP senior leader Gayeshwar suffered injury during the clash between BNP members and law enforcers in the area at around 11:30am.

Earlier, BNP activists and law enforcers locked in a clash at different parts in the capital including Gabtoli, Dholaikhal, Matuail, Shyamoli and Jatrabari while observing the sit-in programme to press home its demand for holding the election under a caretaker government.

Earlier on July 28, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that the party and the other like-minded opposition political parties would hold sit-in programmes at all the Dhaka entry points on Saturday.

Fakhrul said that the opposition political parties would hold the sit-in programmes from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday.
