BNP leader Amanullah Aman detained from Gabtoli

Police have detained BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan North convener Amanullah Aman from city's Gabtoli while the opposition party was observing a sit-in programme in the area.

The BNP leader was picked up at around 11:45am today. 

The ruling party activists also did a counter sit-ins program in Gabtoli. 

At one stage, there was a three-way clash among the leaders and activists of the Awami League, BNP and the police. 

Later, Aman Ullah Aman become unconscious and fell on the ground then the police took him away in a car.

The police also detained ten activists of the opposition party from the spot.

Earlier, BNP activists and law enforcers locked in a clash at different parts in the capital including Dholaikhal, Matuail, Shyamoli and Jatrabari while observing the sit-in programme to press home its demand for holding the election under a caretaker government.

Earlier on July 28, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that the party and the other like-minded opposition political parties would hold sit-in programmes at all the Dhaka entry points on Saturday from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
