The police have released BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy from custody following his detention during a clash in Dhaka's Matuail on Saturday (July 29).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) of DMP Media and Public Relations Department Md Farooq Hossain confirmed the matter.
The senior BNP leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy released DB headquarters from 3:30pm, he added.
Earlier today, police had brought him to the DB headquarters on Minto Road in the capital.

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was picked up by police from the city's Dholaikhal area today at around 11:30am.
BNP activists and law enforcers locked in a clash at different parts in the capital including Gabtoli, Dholaikhal, Matuail, Shyamoli and Jatrabari while observing the sit-in programme to press home its demand for holding the election under a caretaker government.
Earlier on July 28, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that the party and the other like-minded opposition political parties would hold sit-in programmes at all the Dhaka entry points on Saturday.
Fakhrul said that the opposition political parties would hold the sit-in programmes from 11:00am to 4:00pm on Saturday.
