BNP leader killed in Kushtia

KUSHTIA: A BNP leader also a Union Parishad (UP) chairman was shot dead by miscreants at Jagannathpur union of Kumarkhali upazila under the district on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Munshi Rashidur Rahman, joint general secretary of Kumarkhali upazila BNP and Jagannathpur UP Chairman.

Sources said masked miscreants opened fire round of bullets aiming Rashidur Rahman near Mahendrapur Bazar around 6:00pm, leaving him injured critically.

Later, locals rushed him in Kushtia Medical College Hospital, where he died around 7:45pm.

Kushtia Police Super confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Meanwhile, district BNP called a dawn-to-dusk shutdown in the district protesting killing of the BNP leader.
