Convicted war criminal Delwar Hossain Sayeedi was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) with chest pain.
The doctor at Kashimpur jail took Sayeedi to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital immediately after he complained of chest pain around 2 pm on Sunday, said Shahjahan Ahmed, senior jail superintendent of Kashimpur Central Jail-1.
Later, the hospital authorities referred him to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University for better treatment, he said, adding Sayeedi is under treatment at the hospital now.
Gazipur Deputy Commissioner Abul Fateh Muhammad Shafiqul Islam said: “Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital authorities informed me that Sayeedi had a mild heart attack. After being brought to the hospital, he was referred to Dhaka for better treatment.
Delwar Hossain Sayeedi was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Feb 28, 2013. Later on Sept 17, 2014, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court reduced the sentence to imprisonment until death.
