Prime Minister and Awami League president Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday (August 15) paid rich tributes to August 15 martyrs at the Banani Graveyard in Dhaka.
The premier along with her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, went there in the morning and paid glowing homage by placing wreaths.
They also placed wreaths at the graves. Later, they stood in solemn silence for some time.
They offered Fateha and munajat seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs of August 15.
Their mother, Bangamata Begum Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, brothers Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russel, and other martyrs of August 15, 1975 were laid to rest at the Banani Graveyard.
Cabinet members, lawmakers, political parties, socio-cultural organizations and government bodies also paid glowing tributes to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait at Dhanmondi Road No-32.
Earlier in the day, Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to Bangladesh’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, marking the 45th anniversary of his martyrdom and the National Mourning Day.
The prime minister paid homage to the Father of the Nation by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32.
