A Dhaka court today (August 19) sent Moshiur Rahman, former joint member secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad, to jail in a case filed against him for allegedly assaulting the police during a protest in 2021.
He was presented before the court today after a one-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shakil Ahmed passed the order to send him to the jail after the investigating officer of the case- DB SI Khan Moniruzzaman pleaded to keep him behind the bars until the investigation is over.
Earlier on March 27 in 2021, a case was lodged against him for entering into a clash with the policemen during a protest held against the arrival of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was visiting Bangladesh on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence.
