The Ministry of Law today (September 10) gave its opinion in favour of extending the period of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's jail sentences suspension by another six months on the existing conditions.
Law Minister Anisul Huq said it on Sunday while talking to reporters at the secretariat.
According to the conditions, Khaleda Zia would not be able to go abroad and she has to take treatment at the country.
She was freed from jail on March 25, 2020 after the government suspended her jail sentence for six months.
Earlier on February 8, 2017, Khaleda Zia landed in jail after being sentenced to five years' imprisonment by a special court in Dhaka in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
BNP chief has been staying at her Gulshan residence since her release in 2020.
She also received treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital.
