MEHERPUR: Police held at least five women activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from a house in bus stand Para area of the district on Monday night.

The detainees were Rozina Khatun,40, wife of Janbar Ali ,Monwara Khatun ,40, wife of Abdus Mannan, Salina Khatun,32, wife of Solayman Hossain, Roksana Khatun,35, wife of Mizanur Rahman, and Salma khatun,35, wife of Sajadul Islam.

Meherpur Sadar Thana Officer-in Charge Riazul Islam told banglanews that acting on tip off police raided the house at around 8:00am and picked up the women while holding a clandestine meeting.  

The detainees are being interrogated in the police custody, he added.
