Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has begun its pre-scheduled Bhairab-Brahmanbaria-Habiganj-Moulvibazar-Sylhet road march on Thursday (September 21).
The 160-km-long road march began following a rally at Bhairab bus stand at 11:20am.
Thousands of people participated on the road march to press home their demand for resignation of the government, dissolving the parliament and holding the upcoming general election under a neutral government.
The party standing committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, addressed the rally presided over by BNP joint organising secretary and Kishoreganj district BNP president Shariful Alam.
BNP vice-chairman AZM Zahid Hossain, chairperson's adviser Fazlur Rahman, Joint secretaries general Khairul Kabir Khokon and Habib-un Nabi Sohel, organising secretary Emran Saleh Prince, Juba Dal president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Swechchhasebak Dal president SM Jilani, Chhatra Dal acting president Rashed Iqbal Khan, among others, were present.
A large number of leaders and activists joined the road march with buses, trucks, microbuses and motorcycles.
On the way to Sylhet, three rallies will be held at Bishwa Road intersection in Brahmanbaria, Shaistaganj intersection in Habiganj and Sherpur in Moulvibazar.
After this, the last rally will be held at Alia Madrassah ground in Sylhet.
BNP standing committee members – Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury – will also address the rally.
