BNP started a rally in front of the party's Nayapaltan headquarters in the capital today (September 24) demanding the release of their ailing party chairperson Khaleda Zia and her immediate access to advanced medical treatment abroad.
The rally started around 2:50pm with a recitation from the Holy Quran.
Dhaka City South and Dhaka City North BNP, organizes the rally and the party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will be there as the chief guest.
According to the party sources, Khaleda Zia has been battling various health issues, including arthritis, diabetes, kidney, and liver ailments, for an extended period.
She has been under medical care at Evercare Hospital in the capital since August 9th of the previous year. Her physical condition has deteriorated significantly, prompting her to transfer from a regular cabin to the critical care unit (CCU) just four days after admission.
The medical board has strongly recommended sending her abroad for more comprehensive treatment, as the current treatment options available in the country are deemed insufficient.
