BNP started a rally in the capital's Dholaikhal demanding the resignation of the government, the establishment of a non-partisan government, and the release of political leaders and activists including Khaleda Zia.
The rally started around 3:00pm today with a recitation from the Holy Quran.
The party leaders, supporters and activists had already arrived at the rally venue, wearing colourful caps, carrying placards and posters, and chanting anti-government slogans.
Dhaka City South BNP, organizes the rally and and the party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the chief guest, already arrived at the rally venue.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan was present as a special guest at the venue.
A temporary stage has been set up on the road.
On the other hand, a large number of law enforcement personnel have been deployed in the Dholaikhal area.
