The pre-scheduled road march of the main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) to press home their one-point demand will begin in Faridpur division today (October 3).
The road march will start around 10 am from Rajbari's Goalanda Mor towards Sharifpur Stadium, passing through Rajbari, Faridpur, Gopalganj, and Madaripur.
The party people are holding the road march demanding the resignation of the government, dissolving the parliament and holding the next general election under a non-partisan and neutral government.
In Faridpur, the divisional road march will be led by BNP’s standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and party vice chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo.
According to BNP's media cell, the road march is expected to cover several gathering points along the way, starting from Goalanda Mor in Rajbari, including Basantapur Maidan in Rajbari Sadar, Rajbari More in Faridpur Sadar, Natorkandar's Talma Mor, Baroitola in Maksudpur, and ending at Sharifpur Stadium in Madaripur.
The main opposition party has already held six road marches -- Rangpur to Dinajpur, Bogura to Rajshahi, Bhairab to Sylhet, Barisal to Pirojpur, Jhenaidah to Khulna, and Mymensingh to Kishoreganj -- as parts of their September 19 –October 5 continuous programmes across Bangladesh.
The party also held several rallies in Dhaka and its adjacent areas to press home the same demands.
Besides, BNP will hold a road march from Cumilla to Chattogram on October 5.
