The joint International Republican Institute (IRI) and National Democratic Institute (NDI) pre-polls assessment mission of the United States held a meeting with a delegation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Monday morning.
The meeting started at 10:30am at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir led the BNP delegation. Standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Advisor Ismail Hossain Zabiullah, Organizing Secretary Shama Obaid and Human Rights Secretary Asaduzzaman Asad were present at the meeting.
On the other hand, a six-member joint IRI and NDI pre-election assessment mission arrived in Dhaka on October 7 to follow electoral preparations and conduct an independent and impartial assessment.
The delegation was co-chaired by Inderfurth and Bonnie Glick, former Deputy USAID Administrator; and includes Maria Chin Abdullah, former Member of the House of Representatives, Malaysia; Jamil Jaffer, former Associate Counsel to the President of the United States; Manpreet Singh Anand, NDI Regional Director for Asia-Pacific; and Johanna Kao, IRI Senior Director, Asia-Pacific Division.
