Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Friday (October 13) said that BNP’s publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee was not tortured in police custody and he made false allegation in the court.
Earlier, Anee at the court alleged that he was tortured in police custody and the BNP leaders alleged that the police arrested him by breaking open the door of his apartment at Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
The minister came up with the remarks while replying to questions from journalists after a programme organised by Satyen Sen Shilpi Gosthi at Bakultala of The Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University this morning.
He said that Anee was arrested as he did not seek bail in two cases in Lakshmipur.
The minister said that the door of his house was not broken and that the BNP leader lied in the court to attract the court’s attention.
On October 10, police arrested Anee at his Dhanmondi residence and produced him before a Dhaka court.
