SIRAJGANJ: Activists of Jamaat and Shibir assaulted an Awami League leader at Bahuly village under Sadar upazila of the district on Saturday.

The injured is Awami League Shialkot Union Parishad unit law affairs secretary Abdul Wahab, 38, son of late Abdul Kuddus. He is also General Manager of a voluntary organization.                    

Witnesses and police sources said Jamaat-Shibir activists attacked Abdul Wahab with sharp weapons and chopped him randomly while he was in a meeting of the organization around 12.30pm, leaving him injured critically.    

Later, locals rushed him to Shirajganj General Hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Shirajganj Sadar Thana Habibul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
