BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj in a case filed over the vandalism of the chief justice's residence during Saturday's BNP-police clash in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam came up with the order at about 9:55 pm after rejecting his bail petition today (October 29).

After a daylong interrogation today, the BNP secretary general has been shown arrest in a case filed at Ramna Police Station for violence during the BNP's October 28 rally.

The Detective Branch (DB) of Police detained Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his residence at Gulshan in the capital around 9:30 am today.
