A Dhaka court sent five people including BNP’s vice chairman and Noakhali-4 constituency former MP Md. Shajahan, and former MP of Kushtia-2 constituency Mohammad Ahsan Habib Lincoln to jail in a sabotage case filed eight years ago at the capital's Bhatara police station.
The others are - BNP's village government affairs co-editor Mohammad Belal Ahmed, co-publicity editor Mohammad Shamimur Rahman Shamim and Monirul Haque Monir.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim rejected their bail application today (November 7) and ordered to send them to jail after the BNP men surrendered before the court through their lawyer.
On October 9, the same court sentenced 15 people including Shajahan to four years in prison. They were sentenced to imprisonment for two years and a fine of Tk 5000 under two separate sections. The court order mentioned that the sentence of the two sections will continue. In that case, they will have to serve two years in prison.
