A total of 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) forces were deployed across the country, including 32 in Dhaka and adjacent districts, to maintain law and order situation.
BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday (November 16).
Besides, an adequate number of BGB personnel were kept on standby to promptly respond to any emergency in the country.
On the second day of the 48-hour blockade, 197 BGB platoons were deployed outside Dhaka on Thursday to avoid any untoward incidents.
This is the fifth round of a 48-hour countrywide blockade called by the BNP.
The party has announced a series of hartals and blockades since their October 28 rally was foiled.
