DHAKA: The main opposition BNP sought security of its chairperson Khaleda Zia and permission of using microphone on the program ‘March for democracy’ to Dhaka.

Sources said that a three-member delegation of BNP went to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) with a letter to seek permission for the program at around 10:25am.

Opposition chief whip Joynal Abdin Faruk, Deputy Office Secretary of BNP Shamimur Rahman Shamim and lawmaker ABM Ashraf Uddin Nizan were in the delegation.

Joynal Abdin Faruk said, “We handed over separate letter to DMP commissioner to seek permission of using microphone in the program.”

Requesting government, Faruk said, “Our mass rally will be peaceful and hopping government won’t create any hindrance on the way of Dhaka-bound people.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Khaleda Zia called ‘March for Democracy’ to Dhaka for December 29 to accelerate the ongoing anti-government movement to press home their demand.
