The ruling Awami League (AL) has announced candidates for 298 constituencies for the upcoming 12th national election slated for January 7.

However, the names of the candidates for Narayanganj-5 and Kushtia-2 constituencies were not announced.

AL’s general secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names at party’s central office in the capital on Sunday (November 26) afternoon. 

Among the new faces are star cricketer Shakib Al Hasan for Magura-1 and actor Ferdous Ahmed for Dhaka-10.

Obaidul Quader said nominated candidates will vie for the next general polls with the symbol of “Boat”.
