Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary-general of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), today (December 3) appealed to the High Court (HC) for bail in the case filed against him over vandalism at the chief justice's residence.
Advocate Gazi Kamrul Islam Sajal informed the matter on Sunday.
The HC bench of Justice Md Salim and Justice Shahed Nuruddin will hear the bail petition.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court denied Mirza Fakhrul's bail on November 22, and sent him to prison.
Earlier on October 29, a Dhaka court Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir to jail, rejecting his bail plea over an attack on Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan’s residence amid violent clashes with police during the party’s Naya Paltan rally.
He was arrested on October 29.
Police filed a case as the plaintiff at Ramna police station over the attack and vandalism in front of the Chief Justice's residence during the October 28 political rallies and following clashes.
