The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have announced a 36-hour road-rail-waterway blockade in Bangladesh from Tuesday (December 12) morning to protest the announcement of the schedule for the next national election announced by the Election Commission (EC).
The blockade will begin at 6:00am on Tuesday and end at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a virtual press briefing on Sunday (December 10).
He called upon the country's people and the supporters of BNP and other opposition parties to observe the programme spontaneously to make it a success.
It will be the 11th round of the blockade programme of the BNP and other opposition parties since October 31.
However, the vehicles of the newspapers or media, ambulances and vehicles transporting oxygen cylinders and medicines will remain out of the purview of the blockade.
Apart from BNP, the Jamaat-e-Islami, Ganatantra Mancha, Liberal Democratic Party, Gono Odhikar Parishad, AB Party and other like-minded parties also observed hartal and blockade in several times to mount pressure on the AL government to quit power and hold the next election under a non-partisan administration.
