‘March for Democracy’ continues Monday

DHAKA: The anti-government programme ‘March for Democracy’ will continue till Monday as the government barred Sunday’s programme.

“March for Democracy programme will continue tomorrow, no matter and our programme will continue tomorrow, even day after tomorrow. I will continue and let us see what you can do,” she said.

Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia made the announcement while talking to journalists at her residence on Sunday afternoon.

“The boat of Awami League will not be able to reach its destination through the ‘sea of blood’ by killing innocent people,” she said.

The former prime minister alleged that the democracy of the country is totally destroyed. “The government has feared ‘March for Democracy’. So, it obstructed people to come in Dhaka. The incumbent government is illegal and undemocratic,” she said.

Indicating Sheikh Hasina, she said, “You all will see the tragic and dangerous consequences for what you are. Get ready for the consequences. Your boat will not reach the destination.”

Warning a police official, she said, “I will change the name of Gopalganj district. Nothing will exist in the Gopalganj.”

Indicating the police official, she said, “You should protect the lives of the people. Work for people.”

Accusing Sheikh Hasina for Pilkhana carnage and recent ‘killings and disappearances’, she cursed her arch rival saying they will also turn blind with the unending cries of the family members of slain BDR personnel and other innocent people.

She added: “We have affection and love for the people of the country. We feel their feelings. We didn’t fire a single shot on people though you had (AL) enforced 173 days of hartals.”

The BNP chief urged countrymen to join the ‘March for Democracy’ by overcoming the government obstacle.
