Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) claimed that the people of Bangladesh have boycotted the upcoming 12th parliamentary election.
He said, “Elections are going to be held on January 7 by the will of one person, the result of 12 crore voters has already been determined by the will of one person.”
The BNP leader came up with the remark while addressing an urgent press conference at his Gulshan residence in the capital on Friday (January 5) morning.
“The Awami League and it's subservient administration have designed a plan to show the presence of voters in many undemocratic and unconstitutional ways,” BNP Standing Committee Member Abdul Moyeen Khan said.
Moyeen Khan said, “The current situation has given rise to concerns about the future of Bangladesh. Now the people are worried and uncertain about the direction in which the country is heading.”
He said that the government is maliciously attempting to portray a merely symbolic participatory election by conducting a dummy general election in the country.
“The ruling government has grabbed the people's voting right,” Abdul Moyeen Khan added.
The BNP leader alleged that the government has compelled the government officials and employees to caste postal votes by using state machinery.
BNP Standing Committee Members Nazrul Islam Khan and Selima Rahman were also present at the press conference.
