Independent candidate Shamsul Haque Chowdhury was defeated in Chattogram -12 constituency. 

He lost the electoral race to Awami League candidate Motaherul Islam Chowdhury by 85,073 votes.

Bagging 1,20,313 votes, Motaherul Islam was elected from this constituency. Shamsul got 35,240 votes.

Besides, the candidate having ‘plough’ symbol Mohammad Nurussafa Sarkar got only 378 votes. 

Chattogram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman announced the results of the 10 constituencies at the conference room of the Chattogram DC office on Sunday (7 January).
