Awami League-backed candidate Nilufar Anjum Poppy has secured victory in the election race from Mymensingh-3 parliamentary constituency.
Poppy was declared victorious on Saturday following the vote counting at a previously suspended centre in the constituency.
Poppy bagged 54,491 votes while her nearest independent contestant Somnath Saha got 52,566 votes in the election.
The balloting was suspended on 7 January as a group of people reportedly entered Bhalukapur High School polling centre and stole ballot boxes.
They also vandalised the polling centre when the voting was about to end around 4 pm on that day.
On the day, the Awami League candidate secured 53,196 votes, while the independent candidate garnered 52,211 votes.
Some 3,032 voters were registered with the Bhalukapur High School centre, which means the results from the centre will decide the fate of the election.
Nilufar, is the wife of late Mahbubul Hoque Shakil, a former special assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
