MAGURA: BNP-led 18- party alliance started observing a 36-hour hartal in the district from Thursday morning in protest against the confinement of Khaleda Zia and demanding release of their central leaders.
    
Any picketing, procession or rally, in support of hartal, was not seen in the district town and elsewhere.

Besides, indefinite blockade is underway in the district.

The movement of all long-route busses remained stopped but some trucks and pickup vans were seen plying throughout the roads.

The hartal began from 6:00am Thursday and will continue till 12:00 noon Friday.

Sources said to banglanews that extra police were deployed at important places of the town to avert untoward situation.
