Petrol bomb attacks kill 2, hurt 6

DHAKA: The indefinite blockade, called by BNP-led 18-party alliance, is underway across the country for the third consecutive day on Friday amid stray incidents of petrol bomb attack.

Blockaders hurled petrol bombs at a truck in Dinajpur at 12:00am and a passenger bus in capital’s Paribagh area at 7:30am, leaving two people burnt alive and injured ‍six others.

In Dinajpur, two people were killed and three others injured as an onion-laden truck plunged into roadside ditch after miscreants hurled petrol bomb on it at Hili under Hakimpur upazila in the district.

The deceased were identified as Shahnewaj, 32, son of Wahed Mondal of Hakimpur upazila and Adinur Rahman, son of Rojjab Ali of Sadullyapur upazila.

Three people including driver sustained serious burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack at a passenger bus in Paribagh area at around 7:30am.

The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit.

In Feni, miscreants set fire to two voting centers in Daganbhuiyan upazila of the district at around 1:00am.

Locals said that some miscreants set fire in Ideal Academy of Purbo Chandapur Union under the Upazila, leaving the furniture worth Tk4.5 lakhs burnt.

Besides, miscreants set fire at Omarpur Sultana Memorial Girls School of Jaylashkar union of the upazila and fled the scene.

Later, a fire fighting unit from Feni fire service rushed to the spot and doused the fire.

Daganbhuiyan Thana Sub-Inspector Anwarul Azim confirmed the matter banglanews.

Meanwhile, law enforcers remained alert in key violence-prone areas across the country to avert any subversive act.

Public service vehicles were seen plying throughout the city streets.

Earlier on Monday night, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Advocate Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, in a press conference, announced the blockade program for indefinite period from Wednesday.
