Truck torched in Chapai: 2 burnt

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Two people sustained burn injuries as miscreants set fire to a Jujube-laden truck in Kansat area of the district early Friday.

The victims are truck driver Md. Arif of Sadar upazila and his helper Azizul Haque of same upazila of the district.

Sources said the truck left Sonamasjid land port at around 2:00am. When it reached near to Kansat, blockaders set fire to the truck, leaving its driver and helper burnt.

The injured were rushed to Shibganj Hospital.  After giving first aid, the helper was shifted to District Sadar Hospital while the driver to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to spot and brought the fire under control.

Fire fighter Shakil Alam said the extent of damage was estimated at about TK 10 lakhs and the goods worth about TK 30 lakhs were recovered.
