The ruling Awami League (January 27) will hold Peace, Democracy and Development rally on January 30 across the country.
Besides, BNP will bring out black flag processions on the same day to press home its demand for a fresh election under a caretaker government.
The rallies will be held in all metropolitan cities, districts and upazilas headquarters across the country on Tuesday.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the programme while addressing a programme arranged by Dhaka South City AL on 23, Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Quader asked his party men to stay alert on the day and participate in the rallies, holding both the national and the platy flags to make the programme successful.
BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy made this announcement while addressing a programme in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this afternoon.
Both the arch-rivals have crossed their swords by announcing a political programme on the same day, hinting at an ominous sign for further politics of confrontation in the country.
