GAZIPUR: Police, in 24-hour drive, held nine Jamaat men including Kaliakoir Upazila unit Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami from several Thanas of the district between Saturday night and Sunday morning in a case for killing a truck driver by petrol bomb.

The detainees are---- Kaliakoir Upazila Jamaat Ameer Safiuddin, Sura member Sheikh Shaheed, Shibir activist Hasanul Banna and identity of others could not be known immediately.

District police control room sources said that police held them from six Thanas for their involvement in subversive act for resisting polls, killing and injuring by bombing in Kaliakoir.

Earlier, a truck driver, who sustained burn injuries when blockade supporters hurled petrol bomb at his truck in Gazipur on Saturday night, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning.
