FARIDPUR: Awami League presidium member Kazi Jafrullah was defeated by independent candidate Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon in Faridpur-4 constituency in the 10th parliamentary elections held on Sunday.

Nixon bagged 98,593 votes while Jafrullah, also an Awami League presidium member, polled 72,284.

A total of 44 percent vote was cast during the polls.

Faridpur district returning officer, also Commissioner confirmed the matter to media.
