A Dhaka court today (Feb 22) granted the bail application of BNP Vice Chairman, former home minister, Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury in the case filed in connection with the attack on the residence of the chief justice.

There is no obstacle to his release from prison as he has been granted bail in the case, his lawyer Anisur Rahman said.

After the hearing, the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sultan Sohag Uddin passed the bail order on Thursday.

Earlier on November 5 last year, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Altaf Hossain Chowdhury.

Later, he was sent to jail in connection with the case of attack, sabotage, and violence on the residence of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh.

The chief justice's residence came under attack when miscreants threw brick chips during the political rallies on 28 October last year.
