DHAKA: Additional security forces, which were deployed surrounding the residence of opposition leader Khaleda Zia, have been withdrawn.

The additional police and RAB personnel were withdrawn on Wednesday noon.

At present, one platoon of police and members of Chairperson Security Forces (CSF) are deployed for the security of the BNP chief as per the protocol.

Regarding the additional security withdrawal, Gulshan Zone DC Chowdhury Lutful Kabir told banglanews that the additional forces were deployed due to a security threat to Khaleda Zia.

The additional forces were withdrawn because of the threat has been lowered, he added.

Earlier, the government deployed additional security forces surrounding the residence of Khaleda Zia after she called an anti-government movement ‘March for Democracy’ for December 29 last year.
