Cumilla polls: 2 suffer bullet wounds

Two people sustained bullets injuries in Cumilla during a clash between two groups while the city corporation elections is under.

The injured identified as Jahirul Ahmed and Tuhin were admitted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

The clash ensued around 10:30am beside Munshi AM Ali High School centre under ward no 19 in the Cumilla Metropolitan.

According to eyewitness, the gunfight took place between the supporters of 'Horse symbol' and 'Bus symbol' around 10:30am. Two supporters of Horse symbol--Tuhin Hossain and Jahir Hossain--sustained bullets wounds in their legs when Sumon, a Chhatra League leader, opened fire on them.

Then the striking force of Police rushed to the scene and dispersed the groups.

Hassan Ahmed Kamrul, the centre presiding officer, said, "The incident happened outside the polling centre. I informed the matter immediately to the Magistrate. The situation is now normal."

Necessary action will be taken in this regard, returning officer Farhad Hossain said.
