BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moyeen Khan on Tuesday (March 26) said the people of the country still ask where democracy is after 53 years of independence.
Hundreds of thousands of people of the country have sacrificed their lives during the Liberation War to achieve democracy and ensure the economic emancipation of the poor people, he told reporters after paying tribute to Liberation War martyrs at the National Memorial in Savar.
“After 53 years of independence, 18 crore people now ask questions – where is democracy? Where is the economic emancipation of the poor people?”
He said, “The incumbent government does not believe in democracy. Although they talk about democracy, they have established one-party rule... It is not my statement rather the entire world says it.”
