After boycotting the national poll, BNP has now decided not to join the upcoming upazila parishad polls in all phases under the current government.
The party took the decision at a meeting held on Monday night.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed it through a press release on Tuesday (April 16).
According to the release, BNP boycotted the previous national and local government elections under the Sheikh Hasina-led government and Election Commission as a fair and peaceful election environment was not created.
There are logical reasons for not participating in the upcoming upazila polls as the existing “anarchic situation” has worsened, the party added.
Earlier, the Election Commission announced that the upazila parishad elections will be held in four phases.
