JOYPURHAT: An eight-hour hartal was observed on Sunday in Panchbibi upazila of the district in protest against filing ‘false case’ on Saturday against 18-party leaders and activists.

The hartal started from 6:00am and continued till 2:00pm.

Officer-in-Charge of Panchbibi Thana Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal told banglanews that additional police forces were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation.

A case was filed on Saturday against 18-party leaders and activists on charge of assaulting a Chhatra League leader recently.
