The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student front of BNP, brought out a huge procession in the capital on Monday, protesting the home adviser’s advice to ousted Awami League (AL) leaders to reform their party.
JCD leaders and activists demanded the resignation of Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain from his post within the interim government for his comments made on Monday (August 12).
The comments by the former army officer for the improvement of AL, ousted for its authoritarian rule, were rejected by many others in the country’s political circle.
Immediately after his remarks, JCD staged a rally in front of BNP's central office at Naya Paltan in the capital. About a thousand leaders later marched through different key roads nearby before returning to their first gathering spot.
JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir led the protest, among others.
