BNP Chairperson's adviser Lion Mohammad Aslam Chowdhury was freed from Chattogram Central Jail on Tuesday (Aug 20) after nine years.
Deputy jailer Md Ibrahim said Aslam Chowdhury came out of jail at around 10am.
Earlier, the jail authorities scrutinised his papers and permitted him to walk out.
Aslam Chowdhury's personal lawyer KM Saiful Islam said the BNP leader has been kept in jail after showing him arrested in 76 political cases. He was granted bail in 75 cases.
Aslam Chowdhury was arrested on May 16, 2016, in a sedition case.
