A Dhaka court rejected the bail of former commerce minister Tipu Munshi in the case of killing Suman Sikdar by shooting in front of Badda Fuji Tower in the capital and sent him to jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mehedi Hasan gave this order after the court hearing on Monday.
He was produced in the court after remand at 7 am on Monday. Then the sub-inspector asked to keep him in jail until the investigation of the case was over. Rezaul Alam Meanwhile, his lawyer applied for bail. After hearing both sides, the court refused bail and ordered him to be sent to jail.
On 28 August, Tipu Munshi was arrested in a raid at Gulshan in the capital. He was produced in court the next day. After hearing both parties, the court denied bail and remanded him for four days.
On 19 July, during the anti-discrimination student movement, Md Suman Sikdar was shot and killed at the Pragati Soroni on the north side of Badda Fuji Tower. In this incident, his mother Masuma filed a murder case as the plaintiff. 179 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been accused in this case.
