Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami requested China to play an effective role regarding rehabilitation and repatriation of Rohingyas.
“If China takes effective steps or plays a role in the Rohingya crisis, the issue will be solved,” Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said when Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen met him at the party office in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area on Monday.
After the meeting, the Jamaat chief told the media that China is a big partner in Bangladesh’s development. “We hope the country will invest more here in future.”
Shafiqur Rahman said, “We have talked about issues related to the interests of the two countries. We have discussed how Bangladesh and China can come closer, work together, and move forward in all spheres, including education and culture.”
While talking to reporters after the meeting, the Chinese ambassador said they exchanged views with the leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami today.
“Boosting ties between the two countries and increasing cooperation in development work were discussed in the meeting,” he added.
