A Dhaka court today (Sep 6) granted Awami League leader and former shipping minister Shahjahan Khan to 7-day remand in 14-year Abdul Motalib murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed passed the order after Dhanmondi police produced Shahjahan to court and appealed for 10 days of remand.
Shajahan Khan was arrested from a house in Dhanmondi on Thursday (Sept 5) midnight.
Later, he was shown arrested in Abdul Motalib murder case of Dhanmondi police station.
On August 4, Abdul Motalib was shot dead during the movement of students in Dhanmondi area of the capital. According to reports, the bullet penetrated Motalib's chest and neck.
In this incident, on August 26, the victim's father, Abdul Matin, filed a murder case at Dhanmondi police station as the plaintiff against 176 people including Sheikh Hasina and 250-300 unidentified people.
