A Dhaka court today (September 25) refused a bail petition of former industries minister Advocate Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun in connection with a murder case and ordered to send him to jail.
The former minister was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate of Narsingdi, with a prayer for granting him five days remand in connection with Jahangir murder case under Madhabdi Thana.
Advocate Khandkar Abdul Halim, on behalf of the accused, opposed the remand petition and prayed for granting him bail considering his age and illness.
Advocate Abdul Kadir Titu of the prosecution side -- argued before the court for granting remand for the accused -- but the court after hearing both the sides ordered to send him to jail rejecting both the bail and remand petitions. The court also instructed the investigation officer (IO) to interrogate him in jail.
Nurul Majid Humayun was arrested by elite force RAB on Tuesday night from city’s Gulshan area following the Jahangir murder case of Madhabdi Thana.
